In addition to standard study support through taught sessions, our Virtual Learning Environment allows students to access resources, participate in group work and submit work from anywhere in the world 24/7. As our degrees are taught and assessed in English, applicants must be able to prove their level of English language ability. You will study advanced topics such as Data Mining , Machine Learning, Intelligent Robots  and Biologically Inspired Computation.

You’ll also start developing your employability by engaging with the computing industry and community. Please note that the following list of units is indicative and may be subject to change. This unit introduces computer programming in a high-level programming language and includes principles and practice in problem-solving, program design, solution implementation and testing.

Northumbria University, Newcastle

Home to 15,000 students from more than 130 countries, our Colchester Campus is the largest of our three sites, making us one of the most internationally diverse campuses on the planet – we like to think of ourselves as the world in one place. In most cases you will study one module per component, but in some cases you may need to study more than one module. For example, a 30-credit component may comprise of either one 30-credit module, or two 15-credit modules, depending on the options available. A component may have a set module which you must study, or a number of modules from which you can choose. Your progress will be assessed via coursework assignments, presentations, technical and laboratory reports, exams and the final year major individual project.

Students will only be able to register for this module with the approval of the convenor/school, once the material for assessment has been discussed. This module looks broadly into professional ethics within the scope of the computing discipline. It covers a range of professional, ethical, social and legal issues in order to study the impact that computer systems have in society and the implications of this from the perspective of the computing profession. To build on first year programming modules and further develop programming ability and experience, including ability to develop and understand a large piece of software, build user interfaces and follow a realistic design and testing procedure.

Why study artificial intelligence?

You will be taught by an experienced team of lecturers, supported by a team of technical officers. On this degree, you will learn about the emergence of specific application areas from Artificial Intelligence techniques and how Artificial Intelligence techniques are embedded in real world applications. This computer science degree specialising in artificial intelligence will help you learn about the latest developments in this fast-moving discipline. Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence students can go into a variety of careers including games development and information technology services. This course offers a foundation year – an extra year of study to help you prepare for university, and build your knowledge and skills. Meet the future head-on and help to shape the world with the science of machine learning with our BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence degree in Cambridge.

Our Stockwell Street library and online resources will support you in these activities. Outside of timetabled sessions, you are also expected to dedicate a significant ai engineer degree amount of time each week to self-study. This may involve further reading and research, analysing relevant sources in depth, and preparing coursework and presentations.

The transferable skills learned on this course could also equip you for a wide range of other careers. The rights of Irish residents to study in the UK are preserved under the Common Travel Area arrangement. If you are an Irish student and meet the residency criteria, you can study in England, pay the same level of tuition fees as English students and utilise the Tuition Fee Loan. • In your third year, you will have the choice to either go on a placement, where you’ll work for a year in industry, or continue directly into your final year of study.
  • This course includes project work that requires you to develop and produce a portfolio or collection.
  • You will spend around six hours per week in lectures, computer classes and tutorials.
  • My research centres on using AI Planning for the control of Autonomous Systems that act robustly and safely in dynamic and uncertain environments.

Finally, the module will cover techniques to measure and assess aspects of source code and software tests. In this module you will gain practical experience of how to design and evaluate a distinctive interactive visualisation which presents information gathered from a complex and interesting data source. You’ll take part in a group project in year two which prepares you for creating the computer systems of the future. This project is great for your CV https://www.metadialog.com/ and can help you make contacts ready for when you start your career. In some modules students have the freedom to choose topics or datasets to work with, allowing them to explore areas relevant to their personal or professional interests.
